For Milano Design Week 2024, Artemest, the digital destination that offers unrivalled access to the world of Italian craftsmanship and design, presents the second edition of L’Appartamento. The showhouse is a celebration of the beauty and uniqueness of Italian craftsmanship and design in a stunning location in Via Enrico Toti 2. Curated by Elicyon, GACHOT, Rottet Studio, Studio Meshary AlNassar, Tamara Feldman Design, and VSHD Design, the exhibition showcases a selection of pieces by over 170 Artemest artisans, brands, and artists.

Nestled within Milan's vibrant 5Vie district, this year L’Appartamento by Artemest unfolds at Residenza Vignale, a distinctive Milanese residence built between 1905 and 1907. Steeped in history and architectural splendor, the mansion was built as the home of an Austrian prince who wished to reside in Milan driven by love. The romantic allure of the mansion serves as inspiration for the six prominent international interior design firms, each tasked with transforming a designated room into a bespoke masterpiece.

“Last year we loved seeing how different interior design firms, each with their own style and design approach, worked with Artemest to create unique interiors. This is the reason why we decided to replicate the same format but in a new stunning location and with different designers that I’m sure will once again surprise and move visitors with their thoughtful design concepts aimed at celebrating authentic Italian beauty" says Ippolita Rostagno, Artemest founder and Creative Director.

Upon entering the residence, high ceilings and a majestic staircase will welcome guests in the sumptuous entryway and flower room designed by Studio Meshary AlNassar. The entryway is conceived as a functional space with a narrative undertone, featuring earthy and desaturated tones, and layered materials and textures, that create an inviting outcome that is sensory and experimental. The flower room, on the other hand, draws inspiration from surrealism, with pastel hues and a sculptural wood cabinet that allows for a sense of scale within the confined and bright room.

The cocktail room designed by Elicyon is a contemporary interpretation of a classical concept. Charu Gandhi’s goal was to provide visitors with an immersive journey of discovery, accentuating the grandeur of the building while paying homage to its illustrious past and celebrating Italian craftsmanship. The selection of pieces from the Artemest collection features links to both the early and mid-20th century, with contemporary twists and accents. The result is a soulful yet vibrant interior that resonates with the authenticity and heritage of the setting with an emphasis on textural depth and softness that plays a key role in creating a cocooned and sensorial atmosphere.

The dining room, curated by VSHD Design, proposes a dialogue between modernist and baroque aesthetics, staged around a dinner table setting. Within this conceptual space, the heavily ornamented baroque walls and ceiling engage in a conversation with the sleek, clean-lined modern furniture designed by iconic modernist designers. This creates an atmosphere that invites visitors to contemplate this evident contrast and the connections between two distinct design traditions.

Rottet Studio designed the living room of L’Appartamento, a classical space framed in an unexpected palette of golden brown and mint green featuring soft celadon wainscotting and upholstered silk brocade walls, all encased in hand-painted wood ceiling panels and a two-tone wood parquet diamond patterned floor. A large sectional sofa upholstered in mink velvet and curved sofa in a blush suede provide a sense of comfort, while dark walnut wood chairs topped with curly Tibetan ecru add a playful element. The material palette also includes pale Venetian glass, light green marble, raw and semi-precious minerals, glowing Rubelli fabrics embedded with LED thread and one of Rottet’s signature surfaces, dichroic glass.

For the bedroom Tamara Feldman crafted a layered interior that nods to her Mexican heritage while capturing a sense of place. Tamara Feldman Design’s mission was to create an atmosphere that nods to nature with botanicals, wood, and natural stones, all the while celebrating the best of Italian design coupled with a hearty dose of Mexican flair. This led to her extravagant choice of furniture and décor pieces by a selection of exceptional Italian artisans and artists, with the intention of bringing the outdoors indoors by incorporating the colors of the foliage seen through the large window: yellows, greens, and gold tones, all of which play beautifully against the terracotta-colored walls.

Concluding the tour of L’Appartamento is a stunning courtyard, designed by GACHOT with the intention of creating an outdoor living room, seamlessly blending indoor comfort with outdoor aesthetics. With various furniture groups, including multiple lounge areas, a dining table, and a custom bar, the courtyard is both intimate and cohesive. Lush greenery and local blossoms add yet another layer to the opulent atmosphere. The illumination adds warmth, with fire pits inviting guests to linger, while the choice of color palette with rich tones including chocolatey browns and deep greens, accentuated by blushes and burgundies, creates various captivating accents. GACHOT’s design doesn't merely create an outdoor space, but a true extension of the indoor area, where guests feel welcomed and can unwind.

L’Appartamento by Artemest, is a space to discover the finest Italian craftsmanship and design represented through the creative visions of Elicyon, GACHOT, Rottet Studio, Studio Meshary AlNassar, Tamara Feldman Design, and VSHD Design.
